Penny sent me the link to the Province of B.C.'s Workplace Training for Innovation Pilot Program. Looks like both small businesses and not-for-profits may be eligible for funding.
Jan also posted a comment on last week's entry wishing everyone in class a Merry Christmas. I would like to echo her good wishes, and add what a great deal of fun this class has been. I look forward to working with many of you again in future classes. Marketing, anyone...?

Week Twelve Homework
The final exam:
Case 7.3 - The Greek Cosmobob
The exam will be hand-written on a 12-page booklet. Copies of the case will be provided.
We can bring both a SWOT and PEST analysis of the Cosmobob to class next week to use as reference for the exam questions, each on a separate sheet of paper. You can also perform a 5 Force analysis on a third sheet if you have time. Perform these analyses against Chapter 7's Section 3 Internal Analysis: Finance; Marketing; Production/Operations; Human Resources along with Strategy and Information Technology.
Bring a calculator with your pen and pencils, the financials at the end of the case will be a practical application of Chapter 3 - Financial Management. We will probably need to remember some of the terms regarding organizational structure and leadership traits from Chapter 4 - Human Resources. Also review demographic profiles on pages 248 and 249.
Please post a comment if I missed any of Ken's directions.
Good Luck!

Review the section on financial ratios in preparation for the quiz. When I receive the sheet of financial ratios from Ken that we can refer to during the quiz, I'll post it for everyone.

Rather than clog up the External Links on the right, some of the "temporary" weblinks are listed here below:
* Cosco's Jim Sinegal in Fast Company;
* Herding Cats advertisement for EDS on YouTube;
* Business Week's columnist Karen E. Klein's Smart Answers;
* Richard Ivey School of Business Case Writing;
* UVic Continuing Studies Business, Management and Technology.

Do:
Watch 2 videocasts on David Maitsel's website.

Quiz on Financial Ratios on Week Six. Uncle Ken will provide us with an incomplete sheet of ratios, along with a balance sheet and an statement of earnings from which to calculate the missing ratios. Bring a calculator and paper for calculations.
I'll ask my co-worker, Melody Wey, who runs the food blog "Audrey needs more wooden spoons", how to open this blog up for everyone to comment.
Update: Everyone should now be able to comment. Give it a go!
