Ken has a list of four questions, responses should be no more than six pages double-spaced. After we have turned the questions in next week, we will answer a fifth question.

I can't figure out what Fontaine has been thinking throughout this case. It was his decision to hire Hibbs, yet he "harboured early reservations about Hibbs". Huh? He happens upon an accusatory memo about Fuhrman in Hibbs office, photocopies it and then shows it to Fuhrman instead of speaking with Hibbs first. What?! He then organizes a meeting to discuss the accusation and abruptly stands up and leaves the meeting. Are you kidding?!? Is Fontaine competent in his position? He seems like a serious doof!
Fontaine acted totally unethically by breaking in to Hibbs' office and stealing that memo. It looks to me like Hibbs was trying to calm the department heads the only way his position allowed. Fontaine's inaction when Hibbs changed the accounting practices essentially gave him the go-ahead. If Alex had been using his great people skills, he would have been tuned in to this fear and would have dealt with it before Hibbs felt pressured. Hibbs' memo was badly worded, but I think what he was trying to say was that if Alex had paid attention to how his accounting was stressing the department heads out, then the problem wouldn't have gotten so out of control.
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the Mid Term
A quick question: Is Ken looking for 11 different options for Fontaine in question 3? It is worth 11 marks so I am assuming so but I don't recall him mentioning it. Any thoughts?
Marty
Hi Marty:
Just printed my mid-term out to proof-read, we'll see what Ken thinks. for #3, I could only devise 7 options for Fontaine (not 11) and then describe the possible consequences beneath each option. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Cal

See you Tuesday.
The rest of the University's on reading break - Do we have a class tomorrow?
Hi Heather:
As far as I know, we're in. Ken's expecting our mid-term exams and is going to give us the mysterious "Question 5." So I'll be there - see you tomorrow!
